Name: Cater Diamond
Age: 18
Canon: Twisted Wonderland
Canon point: Post-Episode 4, including all personal stories and events, since they take place in ambiguous time.

History: 🔸 Character Wiki Link 🔸
Pre-Canon
🔸 Moved frequently (every 2-3 years) due to his father's job, and never made any lasting, deep friendships as a result.
🔸 Youngest of three siblings - his two older sisters and his mother are overbearing and force their likes and wants onto him.
🔸 Is a third year at Night Raven College, roomed with Trey in his first two years.

Main Story
🔸 Prologue 🔸 The protagonist [Yuu] and Grimm appear unexpectedly and cause a ruckus.
🔸 1-3 to 1-4 🔸 Official Introduction. Meets Ace, Deuce, Yuu, and Grimm, gets excited to get to officially meet the new troublemakers and swindles them into helping him paint the roses red while outlining a few of the Rules of the Queen of Hearts, stressing Riddle is very strict about following them, and eventually shoos them away because they didn't bring an apology tart.
🔸 1-7 to 1-9 🔸 Eats lunch with Trey, Yuu, Grimm, Ace, and Deuce for Night Raven College Tutorial Part 2 - between himself and Trey, the new kids are told about the dorms (and the kinds of students typical to them), and are given a briefing of what Unique Magic is.
🔸 1-14 🔸 Goads Trey into showing the new kids what his Unique Magic is. Later, is complained to by underclassmen about Riddle going overboard with his strictness, and prepares to mitigate his anger somewhat.
🔸 1-15 🔸 Reveals his own Unique Magic: Split Card, where he can make seemingly unlimited copies of himself. Also reveals that the Cater who went to get the new kids was not the "original". Once again convinces them to help paint the roses.
🔸 1-16 to 1-17 🔸 The Unbirthday Party begins! More rulebreaking from the new kids (accidentally, this time), more advice from Cater and Trey on how to calm Riddle's tantrums, which goes completely ignored. Expressions of discontent with the way things are going after the new kids are thrown out.
🔸 1-21 🔸 Ace and Deuce challenge Riddle for the position of Dorm head.
🔸 1-22 🔸 Riddle wins the duel quickly, starting a fight about how strict he is. Cater notices the danger first as Riddle begins to descend into an Overblot state.
🔸 1-24 🔸 A fight with Riddle in Overblot ensues and is eventually hard won.
🔸 1-26 🔸 Riddle comes to his senses, cries, begs forgiveness... and is forgiven, on the condition they get a re-do of the Unbirthday Party the new kids missed out on.
🔸 1-27 🔸 Cleaning up the gardens in the aftermath of the Overblot fight.
🔸 1-28 🔸 Unbirthday Party 2: Riddle's Finally Loosening Up Boogaloo.
🔸 Episode 2 🔸 The Savanaclaw-focused Episode. The magift tournament is coming up, and star players from every house are mysteriously getting injured.
🔸 2-9 to 2-13 🔸 In Heartslabyul, it's revealed that Trey and Riddle were the players targeted. Trey is the only one injured; however, due to stepping in to catch Riddle from mysterously falling. Yuu, Grimm, Ace, Deuce, and Cater proceed to go investigate to see who else from other houses might be targeted next, and to see if they can convince him to let them offer protection in an effort to catch the culprit.
🔸 2-16 to 2-18 🔸 A chat with Jamil, the most recent person targeted and injured. It's revealed it was someone's Unique Magic enabling the injuries to all look like accidents, and Yuu and Grimm put it together that Ruggie's Unique Magic allows him to control others' movements. The de-facto investigation squad find him, and a chase ensues when he pickpockets Cater and Riddle's magical pens, but ends with him teasing them that they don't have any evidence anyway.
🔸 2-20 to 2-21 🔸 The scheme is revealed to be a plan being cooperated on by most of Savanaclaw, and Diasomnia as the ultimate target, eventually. A plan is hatched to catch Ruggie in the act.
🔸 2-24 🔸 The plan was revealed to be a bunch of Cater's doubles masquerading as the Diasomnia players when they were targeted right before the tournament. Ruggie and Leona are caught talking about it, believing they succeeded. When it's revealed they failed, Leona begins to spiral into a depressive meltdown.
🔸 2-26 🔸 Leona Overblots, and Riddle, Cater, Jack, and Ruggie stay behind to fight him to try and bring him to his senses while the others, including the present and uninjured Diasomnia players get those who are injured to safety and go to get a teacher for backup.
🔸 2-28 to 2-29 🔸 The injured students convince the headmaster to not disqualify Savanaclaw from the tournament, because they can go all out with magic in the magift matches and get their revenge that way, even if Leona and Ruggie, Savanaclaw's top players, are exhausted and injured themselves. Savanaclaw is also voluntold into an exhibition match against Yuu, Grimm, Ace, Deuce, and the Ramshackle Dorm's ghosts, since none of them are on a proper team. Leona agrees - he would rather this outcome than having to apologize outright.
🔸 Episode 3 🔸 The Octavinelle-focused Episode. Azul uses his Unique Magic and shady, underhanded contracts to force students into unpaid labor in his dorm's lounge, via blackmail and stealing pieces of their magic for himself. As tends to be the pattern, he eventually is gotten the best of, melts down, and Overblots, culminating in getting beaten back to his senses by Yuu, Ace, Deuce, Grimm, and the helpers du jour of the episode - all three named Savanaclaw characters, this time.
🔸 Cater isn't physically present for Episode 3, but many Heartslabyul students were targets, and Ace and Deuce are focus characters in the game, due to being friends of the Protagonist, so it's reasonable to assume he heard about the events secondhand.
🔸 Episode 4 🔸 The Scarabia-focused Episode. Takes place over winter break, so only the students who stayed behind are present - all of Scarabia (ostensibly to study and practice, to make up for doing so poorly in the magift tournament and also to prepare for exams), the named three Octavinelle characters, Yuu, and Grimm. Jamil is using his Unique Magic to oust Kalim from his position as dorm head and, hopefully, make him leave without revealing he was the one behind it. When his plans are uncovered, he uses his magic on a large group of people, melts down, and Overblots as a result. As usual, a fight ensues to bring him back to his senses.
🔸 Cater was not present for this, either, and this time, no Heartslabyul students witnessed the event. However; he is good friends with Kalim, and Jamil's confession was secretly broadcast to magicam, and the stream ended up trending. It's not unreasonable to assume he got a sugarcoated version of events from the former after the fact, and watched the latter in the moment.
🔸 He was reluctant to go home for break in the first place, given that his sisters would also be home.

Personal Stories - Personal Stories take place during the school year at an ambiguous time and show a slice of daily life.
🔸 The Portrait of Rosalia 🔸 Cater schemes to get Kalim and Leona to join him in throwing a party for a lonely living portrait under the false pretense that he feels bad for her, in the hopes that she'll tell him what's on his upcoming Magic History exam in exchange. It falls through in the end.
🔸 This Betrayer! 🔸 Cater tries to use his Unique Magic to get out of doing laps in PE. He's caught by Riddle and Trey and turned in for the cheating attempt.
🔸 Good Luck! 🔸 Takes place during the Beans Day event. Cater leaves his little team to go on a recon mission and runs into Malleus, getting some enemies off of him first before using his flashiness as a decoy to actually accomplish his mission and help out his team.
🔸 H-huh? 🔸 Takes place during a "Poison Refinement" elective class, where students are instructed to use their magic to grow mandrakes as ingredients. The mandrakes end up taking on traits of the person who grew them, and Cater ends up making "A skipping one, a rainbow colored flashy one, and one who is holding his belly while laughing," showing that he is, ostensibly, a friendly and cheerful guy. Vil and Lilia throw him under the bus for being chatty, even when they'd also been going along with showing off and talking about their mandrakes as soon as the teacher comes by.
🔸 Worth noting is that he also created and subsequently abandoned without turning in a mandrake with big, cute pink eyes that he created first, because his family judges things on their cuteness, a bold mandrake with card suit patterns, like his dorm, and one sitting on its knees looking surprisingly gloomy. He may have made and abandoned others, but those are the ones we're told about.
🔸 How About a Guessing Game? 🔸 Takes place during the entrance ceremony. Cater and Trey try to guess which dorm the incoming first years are going to be sorted into, and as the loser of the little game, Cater is put in charge of keeping the Heartslabyul first years under control when going to the welcome party. It's implied he also had to work hard to set up for the party, and uses his doubles to help herd the first years. When alone, he lets slip that he's exhausted, and doesn't really care about the festivities, and also takes a moment to check on and update his social media in a detached, calculating way.
🔸 Something Unique to the Scalding Sands 🔸 Takes place during the Jasmine Silk event. Cater sets out to buy souvenirs for everyone, but Jamil notices he doesn't actually pick anything out for himself, and takes him to a little, local shop to get something, instead of something from one of the more tourist-oriented areas. He's touched by how observant and thoughtful Jamil is, and actually likes what he picked out for him, because he picked it while thinking of him.
🔸 Okay, Pose! 🔸 Takes place while getting ready for - and cleaning up after - an Unbirthday Party. Cater spends most of the time getting ready by getting students on his "team" to do most of the work while taking endless pictures for magicam about the process. In the cleanup, the instructions to do so have been lost, but he ends up using those same pictures to figure out the right way to do things - and gains a ton of followers in the process. He presents this as a ~happy accident~ but in the end he doesn't actually have to do most of the work himself and got some clout for it, so was it an accident at all? Probably not.
🔸 Full of Lies 🔸 Takes place during the first part of the Halloween event. Cater is instrumental in diverting a catastrophe involving guests to the Halloween party and Malleus. The side story also goes into some details of his past (how often he moved when growing up), and his complicated feelings about making lasting relationships as a result.
🔸 Happy Birthday 1 🔸 An interview with Yuu on his birthday. Talks about past birthdays, the light music club, and favorite foods.
🔸 Happy Birthday 2 🔸 The second interview on his birthday, this time with Jamil. A gift is given and the questions go into who he'd choose as a sibling from students not in his dorm, and what dorm he'd like to be in, if not Heartslabyul.
🔸 Only the Roses Should Be Red 🔸 Cater is dangerously close to failing his practical magic exam. Riddle figures out a unique way to help him study effectively.
🔸 It's a Match! 🔸 The Light Music Club only has three members and is threatening to be disbanded, so they need to come up with some way to recruit new students into the club.

Events - Event summaries are actually on their pages! If there's no note after the link, then Cater wasn't in the event itself, and only heard of it secondhand or watched the events instead of participating.
🔸 Happy Beans Day! ~Sieze the Golden Harp~ 🔸 Cater ends up in a team with Yuu and Grimm, so is one of the "focus characters" for this event. As the third year in their mini-team, he ends up helping quite a bit in the strategizing, even when it looks like he's making silly mistakes.
🔸 Fairy Gala ~Festival of the Spring-Calling Fairies 🔸
🔸 Ghost Marriage ~Proposal of Destiny~ 🔸 Idia's been kidnapped as a ghost bride's ideal man. Most of the rest of the students are cycled through to try and woo her instead in an effort to rescue him with... not much success, Cater among them.
🔸 Wish Upon a Star ~Dance and Wishes~ 🔸 Cater's Wish
🔸 Scary Monsters! ~Screaming Halloween Show~ 🔸 Cater was selected as one of the Halloween Committee members, and as such is tasked with helping to make sure that the events proceed smoothly, even when a good portion of the guests end up going wild.
🔸 Master Chef Events 🔸 The Master Chef Events are a series of short events where two students take a cooking class. Cater hasn't participated in one, yet, but he has been a food judge in all of them thus far.
🔸 Vargas CAMP! ~Spring Happening~ 🔸
Happy Beans Day ~The Harpless Brawl~ 🔸
🔸 Scalding Sands' Al'ab Nariya // Jasmine Silk 🔸 Kalim and Jamil have to go home to participate in a festival in the Scalding Sands. Jamil doesn't wish to bring any guests, so Kalim brings Cater along, and invites Lilia, who gives his chance to Malleus. Malleus invites Yuu (and Grimm), and Cater brings Trey. It's a fun little vacation.
🔸 Scary Monsters! ~Endless Halloween Night~ 🔸 Spends most of this event kidnapped and/or possessed.
🔸 Harveston's Kelkkarotu 🔸
Strengths & Weaknesses:
🔸 Resilient [+] For better or worse, he's had to foster a strong sense of resilience in himself over the years. It comes from moving so often and having to leave behind friends and memories, and from enduring all his sisters' and his mother's overbearing tendencies, and manifests in how quickly he can force himself to bounce back and change the mood whenever things start getting hard or gloomy, putting on a cheerier face and summoning the energy to keep going until he can actually take a moment to crash. While this might be to his own detriment more often than not, it has, on more than one occasion, proven to be a quality that benefits the greater good and many other people around him.
🔸 Perceptive [+] After having his own wants and needs dismissed for so long, Cater is actually exceptionally good at noticing the wants, needs, and general emotional state of others. How - or even if - he acts on the things he notices can be dubious, at times, but he does notice, at the very least, and is more likely to try and be helpful if he feels responsible for the other party in some way. In the chapters where he's present to witness the beginnings of an Overblot, he's the first one to notice it happening, and his quick reaction to that has kept some others safe in the moment, as well. He is not; however, very good at noticing things about himself. Probably on purpose.
🔸 Soft [+] So he does try to keep everyone else at arm's length, but even so, he can't help but have some level of genuine care for others. He comments often on how this year he's doing his best to be a good senpai, and we don't really see anything to contradict that - when he isn't teasing Ace and Deuce for breaking the rules (and understandably getting out of dodge when they get in trouble for it), he's likely to be bailing them out of trouble, offering a helping hand or, at the very least, some advice. This also extends to students outside of his own dorm as well. He's even quick to reassure others when they're down on themselves for reasons out of their control, if he's around to overhear, and quicker to do anything to lighten the mood if there's nothing that can actually be done in the moment, so everyone can keep moving on with their heads up.
🔸 Fake [-] A lot of his outward personality is a front put on for the express purpose of making people like him, so he can have a cheerful school life and leave on good terms, with little intention of keeping in close contact with anyone afterwards. After all, if he's never been able to before this, what makes matters different, now? Unfortunately, it seems like even he's not quite sure what's real and what isn't anymore, from time to time.
🔸 Manipulative [-] While he tends to give off an airheaded impression, more often than not, he's using that misconception to get others to do hard work for him that he'd rather not commit to - or that he's been voluntold to do with someone else, who he proceeds to get to do most of the heavy lifting. More often than not, it ends up working out for him, though since certain individuals can see through his schemes, when he fails, he fails spectacularly.
🔸 Negative [-] While some people would come out of his upbringing with a determination to do well in life, make a ton of close friends, and get revenge on their circumstances by doing and being better... Cater allows himself to dwell on bitterness over the situation at large, over never being able to keep close friends, over always keeping everyone at arm's length. On top of this, he does tend to allow himself to feel bitter and spiteful over all manner of other things that should, by all rights, be only minor annoyances or small disagreements between friends, putting on a nonchalant face at the time only to stew on his own unpleasant feelings later. His supposedly cheery outward demeanor is exhausting to him as well, and he often laments - in private - over this.
